So the glass screen protector isn't really providing any protection, just another layer. If the glass screen protector gets damaged, the original protective layer of plastic would still have to be removed because of the adhesive. The Sony glass screen protector gets glued to the factory layer of plastic. True, but it is more difficult to remove and replace the stock plastic layer. (I've watched a YouTube of this being done on the A7R2.) I presume if that layer got damaged, it could be replaced. The actual screen has already been protected by Sony by a factory layer of plastic. In the event that the glass becomes scratched or damaged it can be replaced relatively cheaply and easily.The glass surface feels different to the touch and some prefer it.The glass surface is harder and therefore more resistant to minor scratches and abrasions.OK, it's been a long day, so maybe I'm in brain freeze land, but I am wondering what the point is of the Sony glass screen protector:
